Walmart is among several companies in recent years to have faced criticism for poor human resources performance.
Last year, the company acknowledged it had “significant gaps in our human resource strategy,” which includes “our human resources policies and practices and how we use data.”
The memo said the company also “did not adequately communicate or acknowledge” the gaps.
The memo was first published by the AP.
Walton’s memo was sent to the Human Resources team on Nov. 19.
It stated that Walmart has a “zero tolerance policy” for employee harassment and misconduct, and that the company is working to make sure it follows all of its policies and guidelines.
“We are working to change our HR process and policies to better align with the company’s culture and values,” Walmart wrote in the memo.
Walons chief human resources officer, Lisa Lappin, told The Associated News that Walmart had implemented new policies for human resources.
The company’s human resource team is currently working with the Human Rights Commission to create an improved HR process.
The Human Rights Council, an independent nonprofit organization that helps organizations comply with human rights laws, said it was investigating the Walmart human resources situation and had not yet received a response from the company.
